Fury Caraway, the soldier and politician

      [ about fury ]
It is very possible Fury Caraway is also the very same Major who you encounter in the game, in the Laguna dream sequence. A Major of the Galbadian Army who also frequented the Hotel Bar claims to be Julia's personal bodyguard. 18 years ago he was known as Major Caraway, because in the Laguna dream sequence with Raine explaining who Julia married, that was his title at the time (Japanese Game).

The Major didn't like any of the soldiers who got close to Julia, and warned every soldier to stay away. He loved Julia's piano playing so much that if someone tried to talk to him as she played, he would tell them they are interrupting his 'bliss'. On one night Laguna was bold enough to approach and wave at her. Julia sat with Laguna to have a short talk, and the jealous Major listened in while standing near the table. After Julia left, the Major warned Laguna that he would send him off to war which is exactly what happened.

Since you see the game from mostly Squall, Laguna and Rinoa's point of view, Fury seems like a very strict 'no nonsense' guy. However he does have a strong protective instinct towards his family. The way he tried to keep other men from making passes at Julia is very similar to how he tried to keep Rinoa on a tight leash.

He started as a soldier and easily moved up the ranks over the years. Possibly for the same reason Squall moved up the ranks as a SeeD, they stick to doing their job strictly and precisely, while not having much of any personal life nor showing emotions.

Caraway is no villain at all. He gets involved with co-ordinating Edea's assasination because he had a personal dislike and fear of war breaking out again as 20 years ago. Since Rinoa told Edea that she is related to him, he looses his post as Colonel due to his possible involvement in the assasination attempt.
